Local people are being invited to come along to a series of public events to learn more about the proposals to support Chippenham town centre's vibrancy and sustainability in the future.

These events are part of a six-week public consultation to gather feedback on a new and comprehensive Town Centre Masterplan for Chippenham.

The Chippenham Town Centre Partnership Board has produced the One Plan for Chippenham, which begins the process of bringing together existing plans and proposals into a single plan. The One Plan has purposely focused on several key projects and the Board is seeking as many views and ideas on these projects as possible.

Three public pop-up events are being held to ensure local people can discuss the proposals in greater detail and ask any questions they may have with members of the Board. These public drop-in events are being held on:

  • Thursday 11 May 2023 from 9am to 5pm at Borough Parade
  • Saturday 13 May 2023 from 9am to 1pm at The Olympiad
  • Friday 19 May 2023 from 9.30am to 2pm at Chippenham Library

A presentation on the proposals is also being made to the Chippenham and Villages Area Board on Monday 15 May 2023 starting at 6pm. This online meeting is open to the public, a meeting link can be requested from Areaboards@wiltshire.gov.uk (opens new window).

Anyone wishing to view the recording of the public online webinar held on Thursday 27 April 2023 at 6pm can use the link found on www.wiltshire.gov.uk/ChippenhamOnePlan.

The Rt Hon Michelle Donelan MP for the Chippenham Constituency, said: "It is really important that you have a voice in shaping the future of our town. By giving us your feedback, we can make a community-led plan which will enable us to reshape our town centre with a coordinated approach. Please do pop to my office or the Town Hall to pick up a copy of the survey, which will enable you to have a voice in how we shape the town for future generations."

The consultation survey can be completed online at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/ChippenhamOnePlan. If anyone requires help completing the survey or would like the consultation material provided as a paper copy or in a different format, please contact Customer Services on 0300 456 0100.

Don Steele, Chair of Trustees, Chippenham Borough Lands Charity commented: The proposals for the riverside redevelopment hold immense potential to transform our town into a hub of leisure, recreation, and enhanced wellbeing. Through the establishment of the Chippenham Partnership Board and Chippenham Town Quarters, a remarkable collaboration has taken shape, uniting businesses, organisations, and individuals who share common interests and are dedicating their efforts to improve specific areas of central Chippenham.

The One Plan Chippenham consultation presents a fantastic opportunity for the whole community to now contribute their ideas and opinions and have their voice heard. We hope everyone embraces this chance to envision positive changes and collectively shape the future of our town.

Sandie Webb from the Chippenham Town Team, added: The folk who live, trade, and work in Chippenham have helped shape this 'Chippenham One Plan' and now is the chance for you to contribute your very unique views. If you only get involved in one consultation this year - this is it!

By taking the time to go online at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/ChippenhamOnePlan or pop into the Community Hub in Borough Parade and fill in the survey, you will be helping to shape the future of our town centre. It only takes a few minutes, and you can be sure that your contribution will count.

Hard copies of the survey are also available from

  • The Rt Hon Michelle Donelan MP's office
  • Wiltshire Council's Monkton Park office reception
  • Chippenham Town Council reception
  • Chippenham Library
  • Chippenham Community Eco Hub
  • The Olympiad

Once completed the survey can be handed in at the above reception areas or posted to Major Projects, Wiltshire Council, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge, Wiltshire BA14 8JN.

Councillor Desna Allen, Leader of Chippenham Town Council; This is a real opportunity for Chippenham residents to have their say. Please complete and return the questionnaire and help us get real results for the future of our town centre.

Cllr Richard Clewer, Leader of Wiltshire Council, commented: We're nearly halfway through the consultation so there's still plenty of time for people to get involved and have their say. It's really important we hear local people's views on the One Plan, so we have the right schemes coming forward ensuring Chippenham town centre has a bright future.

All feedback must be received by 5pm on Tuesday 6 June 2023.
